Date: Tuesday, March 17th
Time: 2:00pm - 4:00pm
Where: Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence– Training Room, 641 Bald Hill Rd. Warwick, RI 02886
Facilitator: Linzi Rae Matta, LICSW
This training will focus on the prevalence of adverse childhood experiences (ACE's) and how they may increase risk of experiencing interpersonal violence (IPV) in adolescent and adult years. We will go over the ACE's study in detail, to include limitations and ongoing expansion of the original study, and discuss the corresponding risks associated with having these experiences in childhood and how they impact a survivor's functioning. We will discuss the role of service providers in understanding these dynamics, and discuss skills and approaches that can be effective in engaging survivors in the support they need to begin and continue their healing journeys.
