Domestic Violence Case Manager

About this job

The Domestic Violence Case Manager provides one-to-one support and services to Muslim victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault through assessment, needs identification/clarification, information and abuse/assault education, and assisting the client in establishing goals; provides spiritually and ethnically sensitive advocacy to the Muslim client; if linguistic barriers exist garners the support of an appropriate interpreter; accompanies client to court and Muslim community meetings as appropriate; serves on the Healthy Families Initiative Assessment Team; collaborates with the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence in mutual advocacy efforts; may facilitate and assist with victim support groups.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Education, Human Services or related field with 1 year of successful experience in equivocal position, OR 2-year degree and 3 years successful experience in equivocal position, OR 5 years of successful experience in equivocal position. Will consider other combinations of education/experience if relevant to position.
  • Knowledge of Islamic practices, teachings and etiquette required.
  • Experience working with Muslim clients preferred.
  • Proficiency in Arabic and/or Urdu verbal communications preferred.
    • Working knowledge and sensitivity to issues surrounding domestic violence and sexual assault required.
    • Knowledge and understanding of cultural, social and religious factors inherent in providing services to Muslim clients from diverse populations preferred.
    • Knowledge of community resources and skilled in resource utilization preferred.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Must maintain own professional liability insurance.
    • Must possess current and valid drivers\\\' license.
      • Must have access to an insured automobile to be used during the course of employment.
      • Criminal and Motor Vehicle background checks will be conducted.
