Domestic Violence in RI

The six member agencies of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence provided community services to 9,694 victims of domestic violence in 2011.
 

Client Services

  • 548 adults and children received shelter
  • 17,588 nights were spent in shelter
  • 13,374 hotline calls were answered
  • 4,096 victims received individual advocacy services
  • 326 clients participated in a support or educational group
  • 258 clients received clinical/counseling services

Criminal Justice

  • 3,353 victims obtained Temporary Restraining Orders
  • 5,527 victims of abuse were assisted by a Court Advocate in District Court
 

Prevention and Education

  • 16,507 elementary, middle, and high school youth were reached through prevention education
  • 1,300 people attended 63 RICADV presentations on domestic violence to raise community awareness
  • 13,938 community members attended statewide domestic violence presentations
