This training will dive into the understanding of the effects of historical trauma and unresolved grief among Native Americans. Participants will gain an understanding of how the Native American culture and history impacts their current experiences, and therefore how advocates and other social service providers can be more effective in working with Native American victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. The RI Indian Council is implementing a new Violence Against Women Act grant project and participants in this training will attain a full understanding of these services that are being offered.
