Description

Presenter: Grace Mattern

Grace Mattern is a national expert on violence against women who served as Executive Director of the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence for 30 years. Join us as she leads this interactive workshop to explore the history and meaning of empowerment within the movement to end violence against women, reviewing principles of victim-centered advocacy and trauma-informed responses. Through discussion and exercises, participants will gain an understanding of the feminist roots of the movement, how empowerment of victims arose as a principle of our work, and the evolution of our understanding of what victims really need and how we can best respond to those needs.
